Suddenly my "fill" is split in two and doesn't work regardless of what fill I apply.  God this program is such a bug and quality nightmare.  Please tell me how to change this back to functional=just one fill that actually works.

    😜🙇

There is transparency or gradient applied. I'd open the Fill/Stroke menu and see if the object or the layer has the modification.

You might prefer another program. There are plenty available with free trials to compare.

The easy, fast tutorials in Inkscape's Help menu cover these basic functions.

The manual has more details on each function.

For better responses, a topic title describing the issue is advised. I added one as an example.

It's not an object.  It's the program stuck on this setting- no gradient.  When I try to make new lines or text it simply denies using a fill-  whatever this "option" is, it's stupid and useless.

Before proceeding further, I'd reset the preferences.https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/getting-back-to-square-one-and-starting-over-its-easy/
