Beginners' Questions Weird triangle artefacts upon image import/export

    Hey all,

I recently had to set up my laptop again and am now experiencing a weird issue (see images) with imported images with Inkscape 1.2.1 on Win10. I had used an older inkscape version before (sorry, I do not know which one) and haven't had this issue. It's present even in older inkscape files (created with the previous inkscape version) when I open and save them now!

I have imported images, which are .tif images created via ImageJ. In Inkscape, strange lines appear on the borders. These only exist in Inkscape, not with the original .tif files or when I open the .svg file with Microsoft Edge. When I export the file from Inkscape, the lines transform into triangle shapes.

I have attached an .svg and .png example. You can see that the left and right borders appear fine for some reason. The photos are screenshots from the lower right corner of the trial.svg image, opened as exported .png (triangles), .svg in Edge (no artefacts), and .svg in Inkscape (lines).

    Any help appreciated!

Before proceeding further, I'd rest the Preferences: https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/getting-back-to-square-one-and-starting-over-its-easy/

After that, I'd use the Preferences>Rendering and un-tick the Use Dithering checkbox to resolve the edge artifacts.

The Un-Dithering solved it, thanks so much!!

    👍

I'd still reset the preferences, since you had an earlier version.
