Beginners' Questions using <use> on an external svg

    IĀ  have a bunch of components i'm building into a library of sorts that i'd like to reference using <use>

    I've tried href=components.svg#sensor and xlink:href=components.svg#sensor and can't seem to get inkscape to pull it in

    Is this functionality supported?

    I'd use the symbols dialog.Ā 

    External symbols files/libraries can be made and accessed from the user profile, similar to using Inkscape's core symbol libraries.
