    Hi.

I'm very new to Inkscape so your patience please.

    Desktop PC windows 11

When I draw a simple box and add and use nodes it leaves the background black. How do I stop this so it leaves just the outline of the new shape

I don´t understand a word. Can you give a step-by-step process about what you´re doing?

Ok - there went something wrong in the beginning when you did Path->Stroke to Path instead of "Object to Path" and I guess it´s easier to start over with the "B"ézier-tool than:

Take the Node-tool and select either 1 single node from the white or the black shape - then go Edit->Select All and hit Backspace to delete one shape.

I suggest exploring the tutorials in inkscape's section. Also this : http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Attributes.html
