I am just starting to use Inkscape. I have an image taken from freepik, in EPS format. In principle, this image should have a transparent part. When I open it on Inkscape, there is only one layer, and the transparent part is composed of white and grey squares... but there is no transparency. The image is composed of only one layer. Is there a way to unfold the layers? Because there should be a transparency layer, right?
here is an example: https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/set-three-colorful-transparent-wave-background_10308535.htm#query=background%20transparent&position=1
If I take this image in Inkscape, it will be displayed exactly as it appears. The transparent background will not be a real transparent background, and I will have the small gray and white tiles.
When in my opinion, I should have a transparency layer + the image layer.
I've downloaded the zipfile form the link you provided.
It contains a jpg and an eps file.
The jpg has a checkerboard as an image ( jpg does not support transparency ). You can actually use the eraser tool in GIMP or Photoshop to rub out the checkerboard :)
The eps seems to be a container into which the jpg or other bitmap has been thrown.
I think sometimes these stock sites have a minimum specification for file size or dimensions for uploading .eps files.
The way the uploaders go about meeting this specification is sometimes a bit odd and doesn't always make sense.
Not that I can see, however on the freepik site near the download button, there is a comment button. After that you can click on technical support - possibly ask them if the file is bugged.

Are you able to attach the eps ?
and here it is
Do you have a link to the original eps so we can see what it is supposed to look like ?
here is an example:

Have a look at the eps file in this online viewer : https://epsviewer.org/onlineviewer.aspx
Ok so I can't do anything, except rework the file with gimp, and put it in png for example ?

OK.
Thanks a lot for your help ;)
