I'm new to Inkscape and am having trouble with the Path's Trace Bitmap tool. When I select a picture and use the Multiple Scans section, I select 8 layers, click what I want on the bottom row and sometimes nothing happens. If I repeat this action two or three times the picture will eventually come up in the preview window and I click OK. I can then separate the color picture from the black and white picture with no problem. When I put the B&W picture in the center box and try to separate the individual layers, however, I have a great deal of trouble getting the layers to separate. I have reviewed the topics section and saw the suggestion that I click on Ungroup but it did not work. In every case when I have used this tool, however, it suddenly works after about 20, 30, 50, etc. tries (I finally got it to work today after about 40 attempts). I thought it might be a bug in 2.10 but I had the same problem in 2.8 so I switched back.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
