Beginners' Questions Total Beginner - basic default settings

    I want Inkscape to open with rulers & grids using "inches" and the page bounding box, or whatever it's called set to 8.5 x 11.

    I've changed the settings i could find to what I want for the current drawing but the next time I open Inkscape it opens in MM

    Where can I find the information I need to make it stick

    Hi, Frank.

    - Set your preferences

    - Go to file/save template then flag "Set as default template". Save as "default.svg".

    It works for me.

    I don't see a  - file/save template, in the File dropdown, just Save, Save As, Save Copy

    Do you mean I should be creating & saving a "template.svg" ?

    Yes. My reply was for version 1.0

    Your solution is the right one for earlier versions. You template.svg should be stored in the templates directory of the Inkscape package (some like users/myname/programs/Inkscape/templates).

    I'm familiar with StackExchange where the protocol is to mark answers accepted and don't send  "thank you"s. Is there something like that here?
