Has anyone tried to use the Moon font (by Jack Harvatt) in Inkscape? Since I've started using Inkscape, I installed numerous fonts on my PC, but somehow, only this family cannot work smoothly. The Moon fonts works in MS Words, but Inkscape cannot find Moon 2.0 Regular and Thin. I had to install the legacy Moon files and even then, there are some issues. It is unfortunate because I'll be using this font on my website. Has anyone tried this font in Inkscape? Please let me know.
These issues are usually related to font family names and preferred styles. Looking at the fonts in fontforge, I see some warnings and differences to the way the working fonts are named.
Thank you very much! I will continue using the font although is a bit temperamental. I have just started using Inkscape and playing with graphic design, so I don't dare to change anything at the moment. I might contact the designer directly to let him know about the issue. Again, thank you.
Hello: just from curiosity I experimented with editing the fonts with FontForge. The Light/Bold variants are incorrectly labelled as regular changing these to the their correct Light/Bold entries and generating new fonts I was able to get Inkscape to correctly identify the three font variants, However there is a further problem with the letters ypqg, there descenders are too long and Inkscape cuts the bottoms off of these characters. It is possible to use FontForge to edit these glyphs and shorten the descenders.
Thank you very much for your insight. I haven't used FontForge before, so I'm unable to make the changes myself. Could you please send me the corrected version that I can install? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I believe the Moon font would be perfect for my website because of its geometric yet rounded and smooth design. However, I'm not fond of the "S" character in Moon as it feels too narrow and doesn't quite fit the desired mood and aesthetic. If you know of any other fonts that are geometric and rounded, please let me know. Most other geometric fonts with round "O" and triangular "V" and "M" tend to be too pointy and stubby. I might give Lemon Milk a try, but Moon seems more fitting for my project.
I've also noticed the issue with the "g" character in Moon, but since I'll only be using it for banners, it should be acceptable. In the end, I might opt to use only capital letters.
Thank you very much. I'll give them a try on Saturday. I am also an amateur trying to put together a decent website. Juts started learning Inkscape; that is, I really appreciate your help.

Thank youπ
The two legacy (regular and bold) are working here.
Can you put the new versions in a zip file and attach to a reply?Β I can delete the attachment after I download them for testing.
Hi Tyler,
The two legacy Moon fonts are working for me too. You could download Moon 2.0 directly:

Thank you very much! Highly appreciatedπ

I haven't put my finger on a solution tho.Β :-(

Could be a display/rendering issue and the glyphs with longΒ descenders will appear when converted to path.
I have attached two zip files:
1 MoonEditLabels.zip contains the three font variants with just the labels changed.
2 MoonEditedGlyphs.zip contains three font variants with both labels and glyphs edited
I have only tested them on a Windows11 system,
Polygon is correct when the long descender text is converted to a path the descenders are visible.
I am not an artist just an amateur so my edits of the glyphs are a bit ham fisted.
Hope these are of use.
