What is the easiest way to put a "Description Under Ellipse" in V1?

    Desired features:

    1. below the ellipse path
    2. text right way up
    3. center left to right (or at least along the path if ellipse split)
    4. specify a path offset (distance between text and path)
    5. retain normal distance between characters when adjusting offset (Block progression)
    6. retain settings when text edited or resized

@TylerDurden thank you for preparing a video to demonstrate the process in a much more proficient manner than other tutorials and videos I reviewed. It is reassuring to know I have been using the right tools but I did not appreciate the subtleties of the sequence.

There is an issue at about 9 sec in that video where Flip Selected Object Horizontally is executed. When it is flipped the ellipse and text is moved horizontally to the right by the width of the text. This is not an issue in the video but in my use case I have a split ellipse with text on the top and bottom so the curves from the ellipse become horizontally offset. Can you suggest how to avoid this issue?

I note setting Vertical kerning to font size places the text exactly below the curve. (Can't seem to reproduce.)

Can you share an image or the Inkscape file demonstrating the issue? That will be helpful.

    👍

Maybe both the text and path were selected, moving the object-center. selecting just the ellipse/path is sufficient and maintains the symmetry.

Note current bug with alignment of text on path.

Yes, thank you.  It is quite convenient to set the justification to "centered" before placing on the path.  👍

The inconsistent behavior (before/after placement on path) is odd, but not a deal-breaker.
