I'm new to using graphics programs and pretty lost.Β The design below is part of a larger project.Β I figured out how to create an overall pattern for my next stained glass design mostly mostly using all single line segments and a few shapes. Β BUT, now I need to create shapes from all these lines so they are editable, snap together, and still be able to fill each with a separate color.Β Any suggestions would be appreciated.
{Ultimately, the design will be printed on a large format printer and then cut into individual pieces which then become templates for the glass I'll be cutting.}
It would have been so much easier, without the extensive use of Clipping path, which seems a modern trend nowadays. Just draw a quarter of the whole design by starting with twoΒ 45Β° rotated squares - then deleting the excess - with ctrl key down do maintain straight lines and 45Β° and snapping enabled itΒ΄s easy to layout the whole design - then combine all lines - duplicate - mirror horizontally - select again - mirror vertically - combine again and convert with Path->Stroke to Path - and separate lead from glass by going Path->Break Apart. Select and delete big rectangle will give you all glass part:
If you share the original SVG file, we can test more completely. PDF files are compiled with excessive clip objects and don't always reflect the original svg structure.
