If I had hair I would be starting to pull it out. I have done a lot of searching but can't seem to figure this out:
I have a secondary laptop running inkscape 0.92 on elementaryos. The "Dialogs" on the right side of the window show the open dialogs in such a way that only one dialog is open, using the entire space, except for the bottom part, where it shows buttons (text + icons) for the other open dialogs. A single click on such a button opens that dialog while closing the previous dialog so that it has all space available. There is only one dialogue open, that uses all the space. This is nice, since now all content of the dialog fits and no scrollbars are needed. Like in the first screenshot. (inkscapeelementary.png)
On my main laptop however, running Fedora 32 with Wayland I have installed Inkscape 1.0.1 (flatpak). There I am unable to get the dock to behave the same. So, in order to view all dialog content, without having to use scrollbars, I have to open the dialog that I need and close/minimise other dialogs. Like in the second screenshot. (inkscapefedora.png). I would like it to behave like on my other laptop.
Does anybody know if there is a way to set this behaviour? I have checked a lot of options and combinations of options, but I can't figure it out...
Oh my! That is it. Just tried it and it works! Thank you so much. Been searching for hours for this.
Regards, Rolf
BTW. Part of the problem here may be that on my Fedora laptop, the half-transparant overlay, showing where the dialog is going to be, is shown in the upper-left corner of the screen instead of over the area itself. Perhaps it may have something to do with Wayland? Anyhow, I will sleep well tonight :-)

My experience is the drop needs to occur in the center of the docked dialog.

If the dialog is already in the dock, it may be "torn-off" and dragged back on.
FWIW, I have seen this misbehave onΒ the 1.0 Mac build, so YMMV.
