I'm trying to create spiral song lyrics, I've got my text box with lyrics, I've got my spiral, but when I do text> put on path nothing happens. Not sure if the lyrics are too long, I've tried doing partial lyrics and run into the same problem
The spiral should be "long" enough for the text obviously - but Inkscape will place it though as many text it takes. You should still be able to adjust "Turns" at the Spiral and Font height at the Text tool till all matches your needs.
I attached a simple example for you to compare with Frame- and normal Text - both are working on Path. Check your Status bar at the bottom of the Inkscape window for any hints+tips.
Nope - it works with auto-wrapped- and Text-in-a-shape. Just tested. And Spiral can stay in parametric status - no conversion into path needed. Can you upload an example file which don´t work on your site?
@Polygon, I don't know what I did, but I got it to work. I'm curious if there's a way to make it so that the text starts on the outside of the spiral instead of the inside. I tried reverse path, but the bottom of the screen said no path to reverse

That´s most likely because the spiral is not a path yet. Select spiral and go Path->Object to Path then go Path->Reverse and try again with Text->Put on Path.
