Hi, maybe this option is not included or I just don't find it. I want to select several objects. I know if you hold the mouse and the objects are completly in it they get selected. But is there an option that all objects get selected even if there is just a part of the object inside the selection frame?
There are a few different ways to select things. When dragging a selection box, as you described (sometimes called rubberband selection) you have to go all the way around the object. And sometimes, for example if the object has a filter applied to it, it will be even larger than it looks. If you don't drag the box all the way around something, it won't be selected.
Or, you can hold the Shift key, and click on each object you want in the selection. Then you don't need to go around it at all.
There's also a little known touch selection, where you just have to drag the mouse so it touches the object. Hold the Alt key and drag the mouse so that it touches whatever you want to select.
And there's a trick for selecting something that's hidden below another object. Click on the top object once. Then hold the Alt key and click again, and it will select the next one below (even if you can't see it). If you need to select both, hold both the Shift and the Alt key.
It sounds like you may have a difficult circumstance on your canvas. I'm not sure if there might be yet another selection technique. There's something in the back of my mind that I can't quite remember. But the manual will cover it, in any case. http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Select.html
Hi thanks for the quick response. Yeah it seems like the file is to big or something. The alt key probably work but inkscape crashes all the time if I try to use it :(

Not a window, but holding the Alt key and dragging the select tool will draw a red line that selects any object it touches.
Have a nice day.

What is your Inkscape version and operating system? Depending, you might need to change some settings, to use Alt key (or Ctrl key).
