Use the Node tool [n] to select the nodes where you want to break your path. Now click this button on the Node toolbar.
You should see a disjointed shape with two sub-paths. If you want to break these apart into separate shapes, use [Path > Break Apart or [shift+ctrl+k].

Hi, I have a path with quite a few nodes and I've added a stroke to it. Now the whole path has a stroke around it.
Is there a way to remove the stroke between two selected nodes and leave the rest as is?
