I recently started learning Inkscape and I really like the software.
Today while I was working on it I tried to use the Rectangle tool but every time I try to create a rectangle it just create eclipses and circles instead.
I checked if I was actually using the rectangle tool and indeed, it was the selected one. I restarted Inkscape but the problem persists.
I don't know what I did but it seems like the rectangle tool is acting like the eclipse/circles tool.
I suspect you've 'rounded' the corners. With the rectangle tool selected, there's a button on the toolbar that will 'make corners sharp'. (It's two lines at a right angle.) There's more info here:
