First, I would like to thank you all for accepting as a member. I do have more questions than answers so I hope you will accept me anyway.
My problem as of this minute is that I purchased a stl file that won;t loadΒ As a matter of fact, it was supposed to be a stl file but in reality it is a jpeg.
Being as I am 82 years old this computer stuff comes hard for me. What I need is some kind soul to tell me how to change it to a PDF or STL so I can get vectric to accept it.
Once again, looking forward to meeting some of you, bob black

We are all here to help each other.
For starters, STL files are for 3D geometry and Inkscape is for 2D geometry.
Vetric brand software can do 2D and 3D.
What is the goal of your project, and what is the source of your file(s).

Thank you for the reply.TylerΒ I need to convert the file so I can cut it out in Vectric Vcarve/ It is a file that I purchased in etsy.
I am almost sure that I converted a file using inkscape but I can't remember how I did it, bob
By the way, it is "the last supper" bob
If you are only cutting profiles like the top panel in the picture, you can use Inkscape and your jpeg file.
If you are cutting 3D shapes like the lower panel, you will need an STL file and Inkscape might not be useful.
thanks Tyler. I do need a stl. Vendor sold me a stl file but it came as a TXT and I can't get an answer to my messages.
