Hi all, I'm trying to print my arcade control panel using millimetres and guides, I'm using Inkscape version 1.0.2-2 and the print out extends over 3 Reflex plain paper A4 pages as its 499mm long and the print out is not the same size as what it is in Inkscape as I get 497mm long instead of 499mm and the button layout is off too, I'm using a grid to align the pages together while keeping partial buttons to overlap for accuracy, I have an Epson XP-3100 Expression Home printer which I don't know if its PostScript-capable as the manual says about printing, when I select from the menu "extensions-document-doc info" it says:
height is 229.99999999999997 instead of 230mm I don't know why or if this makes a difference to the final print as the page border is set to 499 x 230mm but I change this to A4 paper size when printing to see what I'm printing. I don't know if my document setting is using 90 or 96 DPI but I guess its 96 because my version is 1.0.2-2 and my file was made in this version but there is no mention in the doc info about what DPI is used. I'm using Windows 10 and a 30 inch 2560x1600 monitor and I've read about saving the SVG file as PDF or PNG and printing from gimp or similar but I haven't tried this yet
I have posted below my SVG file and if you look at it and notice some holes are not exactly inline with other holes is because I used a hand drill and hole saw which made a slight deviation to the intended measurements which I have included in the SVG file using a micrometre. Each hole has two circles the inner hole is the hole cut into the wood and the outer hole is the button diameter or joystick jacket etc.
I'd definitely try saving a copy as pdf and printing from adobe reader. I never print directly from Inkscape.
I'd also make a single sheet test image with large rectangles to test the accuracy of the printer with a single sheet (saved-copy/printed as pdf also). Then I'd try breaking the document into three documents.
Also I'd keep in mind that 3mm error across 499mm is about 0.6%Β error... not surprising for a home printer across multiple sheets.
