    Inkscape 1.0.2 on Linux

Hello, I am a experienced Gimp user, but a total novice in Inkscape. I have an interest in using Inkscape for graphical text task that Gimp is not that good at. Eventually, sometime down the road I will I plan to learn more about vector graphics.

I know Inkscape can produce amazing graphical text better then any other open source native Linux application. My question is, how do I position text on images to look aesthetically pleasing?  Is this something Inkscape is capable of doing well? Here is some silly project I am working on and I want to know if I can position the text correctly on the Gnome's hat without switching to Gimp. This method I choose obviously did not work.

To position on that line, try having snap to path and snap to rotation centre enabled. You can manually slide the individual letters up and down the path.

Or text on path, or pattern on path lots of options.
