Hi! I'm new to forum. Running 1.3 on Windows 10 and just re-installed Inkscape to unsuccessfully try to get my Pen/Pencil/Calligraphy Tool to retain it's settings. Currently I have to set the Stroke Unit and Size for every path I create to get something visible.. Same thing whether Last Used or Own style is set in Prefs. Fills are visible. Tried setting in both the Fill and Stroke dialog and the pop-ups at the lower left. Am I missing something or is there a bug in 1.3?
OK. Found the problem. Then Tools were all set to Triangle In and a Scale of 0. Sorry!
