I'm new to this forum and it is my first post. I'm also new to InkScape. My background is CAD software and PhotoShop. InkScape is new beast for me. I'm trying to learn this software - mostly for pen plotter machine. I new about Pattern Along The path, but my question is ; How I can control number of repeated elements, and different (incremental) distance between elements. I can do it in Pattern Along the Path. Please give me solution, suggestion or source of tutorial. Thx in advance
Thank you for suggestion. Unfortunately this extension doesn't have options what I'm looking for. It looks like new challenge for me to find the way what I'm looking for. Again - Thank You
Not sure what you´re expecting, but in both solutions you can adjust the space between copies of objects placed along the path. Can we have a screenshot or some images that illustrates what you´re after?
PS.: You can numerically precise place clones along a path for instance:
Here's an example showing on the left [Path > Path Effects...] [Pattern Along Path] and on the right [Extensions > Generate from Path > Distribute Along Path].
Both methods can create copies of a shape with regular spacing along a path. At a glance these appear to do the same thing but there are subtle differences.
[Pattern Along Path] reproduces the nodes of a linked path but not the fill and stroke. You can change the fill and stroke in the target shape. You can't use groups as the pattern source. Curvature distorts the pattern (usually this is desirable).
[Distribute Along Path] stamps out copies of the source shapes, preserving fill and stroke settings. Copies are not distorted.
Here is what I'm looking for. #1 - it is source object from #2 - #8 it is chain of modified #1. Each one is moved in incremented distance from each other, and each next object is smaller by 80%. All along path - in my case it is straight line. To create this I used transform option. I need it to be created along path. I hope my explanation make sense.
Thank you so much - this link is very helpful for me, but .... but i find also another way. Path Effects -> Interpolate Sub-Paths Both are very effective - thank you for your help

There‘s an extension called „Distribute along Path“ which might give you the result yoúre looking for as it won‘t distort any objects for instance.

Here's an old post that might help. It describes two different methods to generate a series of scaled shapes.

You found a simpler, quicker solution than any of my suggestions, Well done!
Thank You.
