I currently have a series of objects grouped in a vertical line and want to bend them slightly to the left in order to make them looked curved. I'm going to: Path > Path Effects > Bend. However the orientation of the bend nodes is left-right, meaning that I can only bend the shape in the up / down direction. I've tried dragging the nodes to a different location but this doesn't work.
I've also tried creating a basic rectangle and bending that, and again the bend nodes run left-to-right so only allow the shape to be bent up / down and not left / right.
How do I move the nodes so the start at the top and bottom of the object(s) I want to bend so that I can bend them left / right?
There is but it doesn't do what you'd think....it just squashes the shape but leaves the nodes in the left-right orientation. Not actually sure what that function is for!
Mmm it seems other people have noticed the same problem. One solution is to rotate the shape 90 degrees (making sure the bend effect is removed first) then reapply the bend, do the bend vertically and then rotate the shape back again.
I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve, but here are a few different [Bend] examples. The shape on the left is cloned, mirrored, and bent with live path effects to create the other shapes. The result is very sensitive to the shape of the bend path.

Out of my head;Β isn't there a setting called "pattern is vertical " or alike?

HereΒ΄s a way that works and you can see what "Original path is vertical" is good for:
