I'm not sure what I am missing, but I've checked everything I can think of.
My objects are staying somewhat transparent and I can't get them 100% opaque.
I've checked object opacity, it shows 100%. Layers are set to 100%. Opacity in bottom left of screen is set to 100%. Lastly I've checked fill color Alpha is set to 255. I've tried copying and pasting the object into a new document, makes no difference. I've tried closing the application and restarting, no change.
I notice it's a group of two objects - might be worth entering the group and checking the alpha and opacity on each separate object. Filters could also make something translucent, though usually by design, not by accident.
Otherwise upload the SVG file and I'm sure someone here will be able to get to the bottom of it pretty quickly.
I figured out if I used the "object select tool" (arrow) it would show opacity as 100%, but when I selected an individual object with the "node select tool" it would show it at roughly 50% opacity. Still not sure how I got myself into that bind in the first place, but so it goes. LOL
It definitely sounds like the individual objects within the group have opacity set. Remember that opacity (and alpha) can be set all the way up the hierarchy of objects - so you can have individual opacities on each object, but also a separate value for the group as a whole, and potentially another value for a higher level group again, and so on. These values are cumulative, with no way to 'reset' back to 100% from a higher level.
In your case the select tool was selecting the group, which was 100% opacity. Using the node tool selects individual objects, since the group itself doesn't have any nodes. Alternatives would have been to ungroup the content, or to double-click to 'enter' the group (also at the bottom of the context menu), then you can use the select tool on each individual object.
I also have that problem after I lower the Opacity on an object and then cut and paste it into a new layer. The pasted object remains at the lower Opacity level, and it says 100%.
So, I concluded that prior to cutting an object, set its Opacity to 100%, so when it's pasted back, it comes back that way.
Hi everyone, I found an alternative way to solve the problem. First of all, I couldnt manage to try any of the mentioned procedures as everything was normal. Infact, I opened an empty svg document and drew a circular shape that was having this opacity issue. What worked for me was this- (1). draw any object and select the color absolute black (or white) from the bottom panel where colors are shown. (2) Open the 'Fill and stroke dialog' and select this object. (3) Select 'Fill' and in the color options select 'RGB'. There should be a string of letters corresponding to the color coding scheme in the RGBA box. It should be "000000ff" for absolute black and "ffffffff" for pure white, this is was some other value in my case so I changed it these values mentioned here. For you, if these values are different, then type the alphabets corresponding to the color. Save the document once and then close it. Next time when you open , everything works fine.

Thank you for the tip.

Check the "Blender Mode" option in the Layers panel and make sure it is set to "Normal" for that layer.

I fought with this problem for a while but when i checked my layers, the layer itself was set to 50% opacity.
