I have two objects with 50% opacity. When they overlap, the color is made heavier as expected, but how to make it look like that the combined color is the same as the rest of the objects. Example: I want the color in the overlapped area to be the same as the rest. See the first pic.

I tried using Path-->Union, but the 45 Degrees line disappeared. Using Path-->Combine resulted in the circle becoming filled

I also tried selecting both and cycle through all of Blend Modes, but none did what I want.

When I try it with two rectangles(2nd and 3rd picture) to make a "+" sign, and using Path-->Union, or Path-->Combine, the result is what I want. So how to get the same result for the first case?

I am using Inkscape 1.2, Win 10 64-Bit. I don't think the latest version would behave any differently.

    Maybe like so?

I managed to get it working just after I posted. I had to use "Strokes to Path" before using Union, otherwise I don't get the result I want.

    Thank you for your help!

Yes - as shown in the GIF.
