Beginners' Questions object with gradient is transparent

Hello, I have created an object in Inkscape that has a gradient applied to it.  when I import the oject into another inkscape file, the object is transparent revealing the background color.  Using the gradient tool, I noticed the gradient stops have less than 100% opacity.  Changing the opacity removes the gradient effect.  How can I retain the object's transparency but make it 100% opaque?

Hello! Would you mind sharing what version of Inkscape you are using and the operating system of your computer?

First, check that your opacity is set to "100" down in the lower left hand corner of your screen near the box with the uppercase "O:" to the left of it. If the opacity is set to zero, then you will not "see" the object as it is fully transparent.

Also, have you noticed that this applies to any ordinary shape with just a solid fill and outline or only those that you are applying a gradient to regularly or just the first time you start to draw?

    Thank you!

Hi, thanks for the quick response.  I'm using Inkscape v0.92.2 for Mac.  Yes, all opacity is set to 100 except for the gradient stops which are anywhere from 0 to 25.  When I make those 100, the object loses the gradient.

Objects I create with a solid fill are fine.  Any object with a gradient has the same issue of transparency.

Hmm. Would you be interested in trying Inkscape 1.0 for macOS? Perhaps that will help remedy that - I'm not certain whether 0.92.2 can do that ...

Sure, will I be able to open all Inkscape files with this new version?
