Beginners' Questions Object to Path on Trace Bitmap not working?

    Hello!

    First I am really enjoying Inkscape, I really want to get more comfortable with this program. But I am struggling ;-;
    I use a Windows 10 pc, I illustrate in mostly Clip studio paint and Paint tool sai, and am trying to use both Vector line files and Png files in Inkscape.

    At the moment my issue is that once I trace a bitmap, the option to convert Object to Path doesn't function. It provides the error in the bottom left as; "no objects to convert to path"
    I also ran into this issue when trying to use a vector line SVG file from Clip studio paint. I tried Stroke to path in that instance but again the same error appears; "no objects to convert to path"
    With the above I did find a work around that allowed me to continue to work with the line work created in Clip Studio paint in Inkscape, but it was a struggle for my older pc, and I know there are easier ways to do what I want. Also if it helps in any way; what I want to do is clean up the nodes that are created from both methods that import images. If there is a way to edit nodes like this with out the Object to Path function, I am more than happy to try that!
    I'll note; The files SweetBento and Pizza Para are created with Clip Studio Paint's export Vectors. The Eevee file is Trace Bitmap.

    Please find screen shots of the issues and the SVG files involved at the link below;

    Thank you so much for your time!

    I´m not sure why you want to convert the autotraced result with Object to Path because it´s already paths (with an insane amount of nodes like 12k instead of about 600 Inkscape needs):

    Hello! Thank you very kindly for replying~
    Yes I want to cut down the number of nodes. I tried to use smooth after the trace, then try to apply the smooth permanently so I can continue to prune the nodes. The tutorial I follow said to use "Object to Path" option for this. But the function does not work in this way. Other people with this issue, speak about using this function for text. :C So I am finding it hard to understand how to get the result of having less nodes.

    Please open my attached Inkscape file from above; I made a bitmap copy of your image then call Inkscape´s autotracer with the default settings and hit "Apply" and voilá - the result is to the right. To reduce the amount of nodes go Path->Simplify.

    Ah! Thank you very kindly for fixing this file for me!
    Just to confirm my understanding. You took the version I uploaded. Converted to bitmap. Then re traced the image with Inkscape?
    I will make sure to try this in the future!

    May I ask if you know of a way to merge paths like in the file pizza para called in folder (lines)
    These paths are imported from export vectors feature in clip studio paint. The method in tutorial I follow said to use stroke to path then object to path. But the same error accurse. I think that I must misunderstand how this process is to work. :C Do you think it would be better to use a convert to bitmap and re trace these line file?

    Thank you so much for the help so far, I really appreciate it!

    Try this at home after isolating the main image:
