I have a file with an object in it, and I need to convert it to a path. The way I would normally do this would be to do stroke-to-path, but I can't add stroke. I don't know what type of object it is, but it isn't text, path, or bitmap.
I can try to provide any information that anyone wants.
I didn't say you have cloned something but sometimes a glyph for instance can just edited after un-cloning. I thought you received the file not generated it by yourself - otherwise you should know what's in there and could tell what's status bar is telling about it - no?

Any advice is good advice, thanks in advance.
Please share an example file.

Just a wild guess based on my experience: un-clone and proceed.
@TylerDurden Attached is the file.
@PixelPest I don't have anything cloned.

It's just a grouped object... ungoup and go.
Ungrouping it worked, thanks.
