Hi all,
Is it a known issue that there is no printer shown in the AppImage version of Inkscape?
How am I supposed to print then?
Is it an n AppImage matter?
Interestingly it works from GIMP as an AppImage.
System:
Inkscape 1.2.1 (9c6d41e, 2022-07-14)
GLib version: 2.64.6 GTK version: 3.24.20 glibmm version: 2.64.2 gtkmm version: 3.24.2 libxml2 version: 2.9.10 libxslt version: 1.1.34 Cairo version: 1.17.6 Pango version: 1.44.7 HarfBuzz version: 2.6.4
OS version: Linux Mint 20.1
I'd save a copy of the document as a PDF and print from that. Even when the printer module is found, it is not as reliable as printing from pdf.
To help ensure that Inkscape is behaving properly, I'd reset the preferences. https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/getting-back-to-square-one-and-starting-over-its-easy/
But, in some cases Appimage may not have full permissions, so I usually suggest using the PPA.
Ok, pdf can do the job. That's fine.
Still ... why can Inkscape not print while others can ...
Sure, PPA would be best, but with an AppImage I can keep two versions and get used to the new versions and still work on an older Inkscape that I'm used to.
That can come with issues. It's not guaranteed that they won't try to use a common preferences.xml.
I use a dual-boot laptop and another older machine for testing versions.

Thank you
