I have a decal design that I did a while ago on Inkscape 1.0 (4035a4fb49, 2020-05-01)
Today I opened it to move some text objects. However, the decal has become 1 object and I cannot select anything on it.. When I try, it just selects the whole thing.
I have tried un-grouping but it says the object is not part of a group.
How can I get this to become separate objects again?
Ok - not sure what the purpose of this set up is: Layers were locked and invisible and you have made a pattern fill from your drawing. I tried to make pattern to objects again. Stroke width seems off but hopefully you can work with that file now:
I am not sure what you meant by what the purpose of the setup is?
It is taken form a rough picture and I created a new decal by using construction lines on a separate layer. I created all the flls and text one by one as objects.
It is not clear why the objects have become merged. The file was fine when I last worked on it some months ago and today, it suddenly will no longer edit the objects.
Do you mean I did something to make it like that? If so, what?
I mean "locked/invisible layers" and the pattern fill which makes it impossible to select anything from your drawing. I doubt Inkscape make a pattern fill by itself - but I could be wrong - of course.
Hello,
I have a decal design that I did a while ago on Inkscape 1.0 (4035a4fb49, 2020-05-01)
Today I opened it to move some text objects. However, the decal has become 1 object and I cannot select anything on it.. When I try, it just selects the whole thing.

What does Status bar tells you when everything is selected? And you can go Object->Objects… and check there too.
Thanks for helping me..
The status bar says Rectangle in layer Drawing
The rectangle is an overall border to the decal. All the other objects are inside it.
When I hide it, the whole decal is hidden except for a 3 dots that I added earlier today.
I just checked the Object->Objects…
This dialog does not list the objects I can't select any longer. It only has the rectangle and a few paths.
So where these objects? Have they been fused into the rectangle somehow?
One more thing: All the objects disappear when I turn the Drawing layer to Off/Invisible.
Yet they are not showing in the Objects dialog under that layer or any other layer.
Strange.
Can you upload the file probably?
Thanks again.
I have attached it here.
Regards
B

Hello again and thank you again.
Did you load that file somewhere?
I am not sure what you meant by what the purpose of the setup is?

May I know how you converted it back?

Ohh man, it is fixed. You are right!
I just selected the rectangle and then went Objects->Patter->Pattern to Objects.
That exploded it all back into separate objects and it looks fine still.
Problem solved.
Would you be ok to please remove the pictures of it? I do not own the copyright to the company logo and name.
Best regards

Sure-done.
