Beginners' Questions Measurement (M) Tool--Angle Reference

The angle is measured by default from 3 o'clock origin counterclockwise (the mathematical convention), but in Preferences, you can switch this to using compass-like measurement (from 12 o'clock, clockwise).

I changed the angle measurement origin for an engineering drawing but failed to see the change. Does this function? I want 12 o'clock, clockwise

    Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure if that angle definition includes the measure tool. It does include any number entry fields for angles (as for guides, circles/arcs, transform dialog), and the status line when you are drawing.

If there is no difference (you may need to restart Inkscape), you could make a feature request at https://inkscape.org/report asking that the tool takes that setting into account.

    Thanks for your comment.

Restarting Inkscape was not useful.ย I was not able to verify the Transform function you cited.

    (1) A correct compass origin was noted with theย Pen/Bezier tool as a measurement tool.

    (2) Object > Transform rotates an object counterclockwise so this does not seem to be correct.

Clockwise rotation should be seen for the compass-origin Preference setting.

Please verify these two items. Do you agree?

So, for the transform dialog, there are two buttons now, in Inkscape 1.0beta2 - to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise, whichever one you choose.

The Pen tool status info is correct, yes.

Please don't hesitate to make a feature request for the measurement tool at https://inkscape.org/report .
