Too less info too many possibilities. Perhaps go Inkscape Preferences->System hit "Reset Preferences" and restart Inkscape to enable its default settings. Otherwise find the Fill and Stroke panel to adjust the settings.
I apologize for piggy backing on this topic when I don't have a solution to share. But does resetting preferences affect (effect?) any templates I've made? Does resetting preferences also reset preferences in templates or previously saved documents/pages? Or just for the current canvas?
