i am currently "designing" a simplistic logo. it contains a colored circle and 2 letters written in the circle. i moved the letters around a little to my liking and now they end up and the left and right side of the circle and even overlap the edges. but i dont want the overlapping to be visible. i want to cut the left and right overlap so that they fit the edges of the circle... i hope i did describe it properly and understandable.

So that means you want the left edge of the M to be rounded, so it fits into the circle like a puzzle piece?
If that's correct, my next question is what will you be doing with this eventually? Will you only print or maybe upload to the internet? Or are you going to cut it out using some kind of digital cutting machine?
If you're going to print or upload, you can use Clipping:
duplicate the circle
select the new circle and the letters
Object menu > Clip > Set
If you're going to cut this out, you'll probably want to use a path operation, such as Intersection. Note that there are few different ways to do this. So this is just how I would do it (assuming I have all the facts).
The letters need to be paths for this to work. So if you don't know whether they are text or paths, you can find out using the status bar. Select the letters with the Selection tool and look at the status bar. If it says "Text....." you need to convert to paths, like this:
select the letters
Path menu > Union
If the status bar says "Path...." then you can skip that. Here's what to do next:

yes, you got me. i want to the left part of the "M" to fit the circle like a puzzle piece, as you put it.
right now i will be using it on the internet only.
i definetly wont be cutting this out. kindergarden showed me my lack of skill in that department.
thanks for your input. i will have to check it out later today
