I found my inkscape 1.01 was lagging when I try to input some text by clicking the text button. This condition may last for dozens of seconds and it was really annoying. I already searched similar questions in this forum but nothing found. Did anyone encounter the same problem and already find some solutions?
BTW, my OS is Windows 10 Home ver2004. And the device specification is attached and I can post more information if you needed.
The Text tool button is in the tool box on the left side of the workspace. It is the primary tool for typing text.
The Text/Font dialog (Ctrl+Shift+T) button is in the Commands bar, at the top or the right. It is used for advanced font selection and preview.
It is common for the dialog to open more slowly, but both may be slow, non-functional or crash Inkscape if a font has special language characters in its name.
Inkscape might also lag if there are a large number of installed fonts.
There may be additional issues if fonts are installed in directories other than the Windows' Font Directory.
Using Inkscape 1.2 on Ubutu and have same so slow experience, you type and a few seconds later the characters appear on the screen. What helped me was to disable Prefences -> Tools -> Text -> Use Inkscape's font directory.

There are two buttons associated with text:

Disables "Show font samples in the drop-down list" significantly sped up text editing and switching in Inkscape 1.3.2 in an older computer (Linux).
