I imported a big closed polygon from a DXF file to Inkscape. Now I need to fill it with color, but I cannot do that, seemingly because the nodes in the polygon are not joined.
There are too many nodes to manually join them.
Is there a trick to join all the overlapping nodes at once and make it a really closed shape?
Wow, I didn't realize that in order to make "Join selected nodes" button work you should select the path in the Layers and Objects and then select everything with the mouse once again.

Here are two extensions that might help you. I haven't used either of theseย so I can't offer any advice.
https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-chain-paths
https://inkscape.org/~khemadeva/โ join-paths-effect
I usually use the Node tool plus "Join selected nodes":
Hello Polygon
Wow, I didn't realize that in order to make "Join selected nodes" button work
you should select the path in the Layers and Objects and then select everything with the mouse once again.
Thanks a lot!
Have a great day

You can use the Selector tool on the canvas to rectangle select all but need to change to Node tool and select again to make every node active.
