Hi, sorry, I am not sure if here is the correct place for issues. Please be so kind to move this posting there, if not,
Please do this:
- select the icon of an png file, "open with..." Inkscape
- the png file is opened, the rectange canvas frame is the same size as the png-image, everything is fine. The scroll bar of Inkscape allows me to move to every pixel within the image / canvas
- move outside the canvas and paste another image, and a third one
- luckily Inkscape allows this. I can use the drawing area, wherever I can reach it
- resize Inkscape to larger view
- now the scroll bar just scrolls within the original canvas and not within the drawing area
=> I want to use the scrollbar for the drawing area not the canvas!
(workaround: Strg + a and strg + shift + r, which resizes the canvas)
In other words: I would like the scrollbar to navigate within the drawing area and not just within the canvas.
I make a screenshot for you. I paste the same png-image by strg + v outside the canvas. See what happens: The scrollbar is maximal down, but the lower part of the image still not reached.
(so my working area should be in the above canvas and my canvas should be page.)
thanks, sure, this can help. This is another workaround.
I suggest to do away with this issue. Therefore it would be better to move this posting to bug reports / feature suggestions, instead of beginne's questions.
The scrollbar can scan for the objects on our working area and adjust itsself.

Do you meant the canvas vs. the drawing?Β http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Anatomy.html
The canvas is the infinite area, the drawing is all visible objects.

I simply zoom out, then zoom to the empty region.
thank you for moving.

If you are offering to program or sponsor dedicated programming, I'm sure the developers would welcome the assistance.
I am programmer by myself. And I give often volunter money for software, I use, because I know, what programming means.
Additionally I give feedback to improve software, - like this one in this thread.
