Great forum and great product - a big thank you to all those that work tirelessly to make it possible and give it to us for free👍.
I have been an Inkscape user for many years, I am no expert, I use it for most of my graphics it works well but lately I am trying to use the graphics such as logo's on websites, I always encounter two problems:
1. the size of the svg seem to come out big even if I use Optimised or plain saving option
2. some systems will not show Inkscape SVG's yet show other SGV's such as downloaded icons etc ...
Apologies if these questions been asked before but I hope someone can shed some light on the matter,

If you have recently upgraded to any v1.x.x versions, I suggest resetting the preferences. https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/getting-back-to-square-one-and-starting-over-its-easy/
For all my work I start with a "screen" template that has units=px and scale=1. Then I change the size/units as needed but leave the scale alone.
After that, I can save as a template for specific uses.
thank you, I will give that a go,
do you think that would help with file size?
Yes.
