I hope I can find some help here. I suddenly have Inkscape failing to save PDFs correctly, and in a weird way. Some files still save as PDFs just fine, but others leave off entire pieces of the image. And when it starts happening in a file, I can move pieces around but any new pieces don't show up in the PDF.
Β
I work in SVG and then save as PDF. I'm usingΒ 1.0 (4035a4fb49, 2020-05-01). Windows 10 version 1909. I usually save as PDF 1.4 with embedded fonts, but I tried to vary that with the same result.
As a follow-up, I don't know exactly what was happening, but I tracked the issue down to a group of objects that I copied over from another SVG I was given. I don't know if it was corrupted, an incompatibility, or if there were so many objects in that it confused Inkscape.Β But once I replaced that with a render of it, the issues stopped.
Yes, that's what I was doing. SVG while working, then Save As for the PDF for delivery. And when I would do that, some elements would not show up in the PDF. If I copied other elements, they wouldn't show up. If I added new elements, they wouldn't show up. That's not from working within the PDF file; that's making changes to the SVG before doing a Save As.

It is often advised to save the SVG for editing and only Save a Copy as PDF for release to end-users and print-shops.
