I have used inkscape a couple of months ago and I have imported and modified eps files with no problem whatsoever. However, I reused it yesterday and up till today, I keep getting the error: Could not load file path_2_file.eps. I have checked the environement varibales: all good. Followed all the tutorials, reinstalled again both ghostscript and inkscape, to no avail. Any help please...
I recall having to ensure the GS version directory in the system path variables being correct, last time I had to update machines. Also followed the tip to put gs in the middle of the stack of system variables.
Failing that, I'd uninstall Inkscape and re-install using the .msi installer.
I did the same thing. Put the gs path in the top of my path list + reinstalled both inkscape and ghostscript not once not twice but thrice. I'll try the msi installer, hope it helps because I'm really running out of time for my report ..
LMK if you need help for the report. i also have Adobe Illustrator if you would like the file converted to SVG. You can DM me by clicking on my picture, and using the envelope button.
Thank you so much for your suggestion, I tried my sister's computer and everything seems to work just fine, I did the exact same thing I did on my computer, weird.... I was also trying to find if there were other softwares similar to Inkscape (got to give my sister her computer back lol), do you have an idea? or is it impossible for you to answer since this is an inkscape forum?
You could install the PortableApps.com platform. Ghostscript and Inkscape can be installed from the Built-In App Store and Updater in the platform. No additional steps needed.
That said, you could also convert to PDF using your already installed Ghostscript. From the Command Prompt or use Windows key + r. Use something like the following command. ps2pdf -dEPSCrop -dPDFFitPage D:/test.EPS
It is probably something simple, but might involve administrator permissions or checking for typos.
I'd ensure the path entries match the version of GS that is installed. Installing the new version does not remove the old entries. You could also post a screenshot of your system path (or send it privately if your username is identifiable).
I just encountered the same problem as you. Take a look at this link https://github.com/tzunghaor/inkscape-eps-export I tried following the instructions it can save as eps file. When saved as a file will show Encapsulated PostScript-AI compatible(*.eps).

Describe your OS & version, the version of Inkscape and the installer you used, plus any special hardware like tablet/stylus or multiple monitors.
Please share the problematic eps file for evaluation.
Hello Tyler,
Oh sorry. I am on Windows 10, using inkscape 0.92, I used the .exe installer. There is no specific problematic eps file, none of them seem to work...
It might have been a Windows update. Hard to say.

We can talk about any software... "Draw freely", "Speak freely"... you get the picture, lol.
There are a few other programs around:

@Aero I have tried the platform, I still get the same error alongside a new one that has to do with python I guess..
@TylerDurden I have sent you a private message.
Replied.
@TylerDurden I can't see the message, I can only see mine. Excuse me, this is my first time here, I am having kind of hard time adjusting, lol ...
