I m brand new to inkscape. Can you perhaps point me to the way how to import cdr files made with corel draw x8.

The import is possible to corel draw 7 x4 but not further on. Is there any way I canachieve an import from x8 version. Unfortunately I can´t convert my existing files downwards.

Hello, Kolja.

I have noticed the file open dialog states 7-X4 for .CDR files. I don't know why when newer versions is supported. So, just ignore it and se what happens when you try to open it.

thanks for your supply! Unfortunately there happens except of a message that opening file xyz.cdr failed.

I tried all other corel import possibilities but none is running with the x8 version.

perhaps there are some other ideas or a easy workaround without having Corel Draw installed 

I have CorelDRAW installed. Saving a test as the older version 18 .CDR (X8), opens without any error message here in Inkscape 1.1.1. The same .CDR file converts to Inkscape-SVG using the online converter https://cloudconvert.com/cdr-to-svg. I don't know what else I can test unless you can share a problem file.

Thanks for your help. I still get errors while converting with  cloudconvert but some files work fine. 

I just try to figure out if I can change totally to inkscape since I m sick of corel draw update policies and prices.
