Hi playing with it I opened a FreeCad drawing that I exported as svg. (believe they have issue with svg not sure what) Opened fine but when I scaled it would reduce in size. Opened up new drawing along with the FreeCad one and copy / pasted into the new one. Now it scaled correctly. The red lines are enlarged to show in the image. It did import at the size I drew which had 0.340" bolt holes and it scaled to 0.50" bolt holes. Don't have need else I would draw to scale (the gasket was scale which I print out and lay on gasket paper with a gasket cutter) and let FreeCad's path workbench generate the g-code. Just hit me you are cutting with Laser, my mind was thinking Plasma and thus I presented 2D. What program are you using or just scanning and tracing?ย Image is screenshot in Inkscape of original and scaled gasket.
BTW Ubuntu 22.04 Inkscape 1.2
Edit:Red lines are the lines used in conjunction with the grouped gasket and real scale.
hi,
ย
is there an option to set an image to scale (e.g for Lasercutting)
Like in imagemeter.com or google maps measuring tool.
ย
At the moment i set the cavas to a certain amount and photograph a reference ruler and pull the image to scale with the handles.
ย
Maybe there is a more elegant way to achieve this.
Like in the ruler tool "set this as real distance"
ย
The Real scale extension may work for you:ย https://inkscape.org/~Moini/%E2%98%85realscale-resize-by-line-of-known-length
tnx,
ย
this is pretty much what iยดm looking for.
ย
i have good success with jpeg files, but svgยดs not so much.
ย
there is an error running the extension:
ย
Sounds like you are trying to do something like this?
yes,
where the 1" line is any number of px in the original image,
and the 3" line is what I measured in mm.
For example, I want to trace the curves and holes of a gasket and then scale them so that the Gcode extension generates the code at the correct size.
