    Dear Inkscape Experts,

I have not used Inkscape, i work with Adobe Illustrator and i was wondering which one is best for vector graphics?Β

I wanted to learn Corel Draw first but later I find that there are lots of resources for learning Adobe Illustrator than Corel Draw so i started learning Illustrator. But there are tons of people who have mastered Illustrator and i just want to learn something different.

    Any Suggestion guys...???

What is the advantage and disadvantage of both of the software...?

One thing guys, if you could help me...

I am bored with Photoshop 2020 because it has lots of bugs and it crushes. Though i live with it because i do sell my service online [link removed], i have lost my clients for not delivering the project in time because clipping path service providers have to deliver the project in a short time (approx 24 hours) and clients have regular work.

So is there any good alternative to Adobe Photoshop...?

Inkscape provides Software Freedom. You may keep it as if it were your own property and share it and modify it. It's run as a charity and programmed by volunteers, so it's comitted to delivering for users full access without any tracking, advertising, or tortuous terms.

You can not have this with Adobe or Corel as the software is never really yours, it's more like a rental (terms depending on how you're buying it) and Adobe have even taken this further by removing the software from users in Venuzuella on a political whim.

Inkscape is also the only one that works with Linux. So if you use Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch or any other Free Desktop then Inkscape is pretty much it. You don't get a choice.

I suggest you try the different programs, and decide for yourself.

I'll never understand this social media culture, where people decide what product to buy, based on the reviews of other people.Β  Especially when those who are selling the product pay people to write reviews for them, who may have never used the product.Β  Personally, I could care less what other people think about something.Β  Personally, I'll try it and make up my own mind about it.

Also, I would never rent a program for my computer (such as Illustrator), or purchase a program which is not fully installed on my computer (such as Windows, after Windows 10 will be).

    Hi Arya,
I totally agree with Brynn, that you have to try them out and decide for yourself. It costs you nothing to put an Inkscape installation side by side with Illustrator.
It can be that for some jobs Illustrator is better and for other stuff Inkscape. Like, for designing vector illustrations to use with a lasercutter, Inkscape is fine and lightweight.
So, if you want to be different, I should say learn both. That makes you more free in the future, less depending on one system.
It is what Martin says, if a software company decides that you have to pay more, or that you are not allowed to use their software anymore, than you can still use Inkscape.

There are some things that are not possible yet in Inkscape. For example exporting a pdf with CMYK colours. That is one thing Illustrators always need.
There are workarounds for that. And I hear that it will be coming to Inkscape, because developers are working on that feature.

I prefer Inkscape, hands down, because it takes far less space on my computer and I decide when to install things or versions of the software.
No one else is the boss (I do not know if this is good English, but you understand it, right?). And the software runs on every computer, even old ones.

The alternative to Photoshop in open source land is Gimp. There are plugins to expand the program too.

Procreate is not a vector drawing program, so you're comparing apples to oranges. It's also not what the original poster asked (2 years ago!) (Thought this was going to be a spammy link at first, but I've let it through.)
