Beginners' Questions How to use (copy) color from one document into another

    Hi,

I am writing this because color picker clearly does not work as it should be.
My situation is as follows: I have one document that is saved as a SVG file and I want to change colors of a few elements. In another window, which is the only way to have multiple documents open, I have a jpg file which from I want to use some colors in the first document.
How di I do that? The only way I could find to work is to write down RGB code and then use it in the first window. Bit we live in 2024 now. Why is this so hard to do in inkscape?

I'd just import the jpg into the Inkscape svg and pick the colors off of the image object. Delete the image out of the svg when done (or hide it).

This is truly truly the way it should not be done.
And if your inkscape looks like your animation we are using two different things, The fonts on mine are almost unreadable.
Does anybody even takes a look before a release? Because, my first, second and third impressions are awful. Bug after bug, every thing I try is either bug, not working or not even implemented. User interface is almost unreadable and extremely hard to use. A showcase for what software should not be.

Right now I am into sunken cost fallacy. Just trying to finish what I am doing right now and then never again. Simply, it is such a crappy soft, just not worth the time.

Yeah. Super crappy software. That's why tens of thousands of users use it on Mac, Win and Linux.

I'd cut my losses and bail. Adobe would love your $$. It is MUCH better for users like yourself.

    Good luck to you.

Inkscape is complex software produced by volunteers sharing their efforts at no cost to us. It's not perfect and it never will be. Despite its problems, many people all over the world happily use Inkscape for their illustration needs.

Tyler has supported the project for years, helping others to overcome those complexities and imperfections. Congratulations to you, mr.anderson. You might be the first, out of hundreds, to find the limit of his patience. You asked a question, he offered a solution, and you lashed out in frustration.

Clearly you're tackling several issues simultaneously: colour picking, font rendering, unexpected behaviours, and perhaps more. You're more likely to find solutions and workarounds if you post these issues separately to the forum.
