When I select some text the bottom bar shows the fill color which changes easily as I click on the color strips along the bottom. However, the Stroke color reports Unset and I can't find a way to specify a color for it.
Hold "Shift"-key down to assign stroke colors if there's any noticeable Stroke width at all. Otherwise go Fill and Stroke dialog and adjust from there.
