is there any way i could make the middle mouse wheel click button let me be able to pan the screen(drag the view around with a hand) and have the wheel scroll be able to zoom in/out? If I cant how do i pan the screen normally I cant seem to find a way without using any keys

Panning with the middle mouse button is, I think, the default behaviour. Certainly it's always worked for me, and I don't recall changing any settings to make it so.

For zooming with the wheel alone (without holding the Ctrl key), open the Preferences (Edit > Preferences), then go to Behaviour > Scrolling and check the "Mouse wheel zooms by default" option.

You have to press and hold middle mouse button to pan, a single click does a zoom +.

I have a five button mouse and would like the two additonal keys to behave like holding ctrl and shift.

    😀

Oops i knew that about being able to use middle mouse button click to pan thanks @Xav, @jonpatterns . What i ment to ask about the pan is that is there a way to pan the screen without a mouse or keyboard? because I use a convertible tablet and a non computerized stylus. Thanks alot for the zooming in information.

@jonpatterns I got the exact same mouse setup 👌 I want to get a upgrade for 2 buttons on each side so i can set one to delete or something but those are kind of rare 🤷‍
