Hello everyone, I am having trouble to save .eps file more than 4 MP. I set 5500 x 3600px page and saved it as .eps. The size is 5KB!? Till now I used to save .eps file from 7MB to 15MB. Since I am a neebie I must pushed some keys, or something else. I was trying everything for 2 hours, but no success. Any help, or advise highly appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you Tyler for trying to help. When I saved eps file more than 4MB I did like this: Ctrl+A - F1 - Lock icon - set dimension more than 3000px and hit Ctrl+Shift+R, then I save and always more than 4MB. Unfortunately not anymore. I keep doing some mistake.
The dimensions won't necessarily affect the file size in vector files. The number of objects will. Why do you believe your file size should be 4Mb? A raster file might be, but not vector.
I know, I asked before, I am just learnig. Enclosed is eps file 7,32MB. Once I save it this big and another time I save the same dimension and it is only 5 KB. Thats what I dont get. Maybe I get later. Anyway, thanks a lot for trying to help.I really appreciate that.
Ooft, I can't even get Inkscape to open that file! It displays the PDF import dialogue box, then crashes!
I was able to preview the file in another program, and it looks like a green tick with a border? If that's all that's in the file, 5kb is probably about right for file size.
I don't have much experience with eps files, and I'm wondering if there's a raster image embedded in the eps file? That would certainly swell the file size. Either that or something has corrupted.
Overall, if you have a vector file with a single object like a green tick, it will make little difference to the file size whether your green tick is 100px x 100px, or 5000px x 5000px, as Inklinea explained in your other thread.
Thanks again. Yes, a rasterize filter effect is on, when saving EPS file. Enclosed are saved eps files. As you can see some eps file are pretty big some small. Actually 1 small left, all the others I deleted. And they are all saved the same way.I start in inkscape with roughly 3000px page. Thats what strange to me. All svg file are small.
Tyler, I do this because of Shutterstock requirements. If eps file is small , no submission. Doesnt bother me so much right now, since I am just learning Inkscape, but in a few months I will need to encrease that files. Thank you.
Megapixels (MP) are different from megabytes (MB), as they refer to the dimensions and not the file size. To calculate your megapixels, multiply the X (width) by the Y (height) of your image or artwork.
Make the document >2000x2000. File size in MB is irrelevant.

Purely vector eps files can be quite small. A simple eps image like this should not be a large file, no matter what dimensions.

You asked about this before...

If you get large files, there may also be raster/bitmap objects in the file. There is no reason for this particular file to be more than a few kb.

The eps file has a large bitmap contained.
I'd ensure there are no objects with transparency or blur. That may cause the eps to use a bitmap conversion and create a massive file.
Also attached is the eps file made from an svg with only solid colors. You can see the file size is only a few kb.
Inkscape is saving your measurements in unit size 72 per inch (points not pixels) to EPS files.
According to the linked Shutterstock technical requirements for Illustrator users, the exported bounding box size in Inkscape should be minimum 2000 x 2000 points (Shutterstock 4 MP EPS file).

Thanks again. Yes, a rasterize

I would try to make small eps files. This requires care when using transparency, no filters and no layer blending.

OK Tyler, I will do that. Thank you once again for help.
In Illustrator
2000 x 2000 pixels = 2000 x 2000 points (Acceptable).
In Inkscape
2000 x 2000 pixels = 1500 x 1500 points (Too small).
2000 x 2000 points = 2667 x 2667 pixels (Acceptable).
