Beginners' Questions How to extract icon from image

    Hello Inkspace expert,
     

    I have an image which is having, inside which there is an icon.
    How to extract this icon from image background.
     

    Please suggest.

    That is fairly easy and quite accurate:

    Select image - go Path->Trace Bitmap…

    Select "Multiple scans->Colors - Scans 2 - leave all other settings at default

    Hit "Update" to check and "Apply" to trace

    The result is a group - so go Object->Ungroup - select the black part and delete - then you have your yellow "thingy" icon. ;-)
