I'm trying to make part of a photo look prominent by desaturating the rest of the photo around the part. It's a picture of a piece of furniture in front of a wall in a room. I want to drain some of the colour out of the wall, and leave the piece of furniture looking the same as it does in the original photo. So I guess that I have two questions...
1. How do I create a mask on the photo where all of the photo except the piece of furniture is covered by the mask?
2. How do I desaturate the colour of the area within the mask?
Hi all,

Many thanks!

This process (bitmap editing) isΒ better suited to GIMP.
Hi Tyler,
I've installed GIMP and it's pretty good so far, thanks for that!
