I am trying to create paint brush strokes but cannot seem to find the way to do so.
I have attached a picture as an example.

Your solution is to use a pre-existing external image and then trace it in inkscape.
I would, however, like to create one directly in inkscape and I thought that there might be a technique that I wasn't aware of.
