Beginners' Questions How to convert arrow to (single) path?

I have a simple straight line with an arrowhead on one end, which I'd like to repeat along a path. If I just select my arrow, click Path -> Object to path, and then repeat the result along a path, only the line is repeated, without the arrowhead.

On the Graphic Design forum of StackExchange, I found an explanation how to convert an arrow to a single path, which seemed to be exactly what I was looking for: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/q/100119. However, when I follow these instructions, my arrowhead disappears after the Convert stroke to path operation, or at least it becomes invisible (the selection box still seems to think it's there).

Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to achieve what I want?

    I'm using Inkscape 1.2.1 (9c6d41e4, 2022-07-14), on MacOS Big Sur (11.7.2)

EDIT: Sorry, I just came across this post, which discusses the same issue I seem to be having (for some reason it didn't show up when I searched the forum for "arrow path", before posting my question). In my preferences, Behavior - Transforms is already set to Optimized. Perhaps I should try on Linux?

EDIT 2: Nope, same happens on Linux (Inkscape 1.2.2 (b0a8486541, 2022-12-01, custom) on Ubuntu 22.04). Any ideas?

EDIT 3: When I convert my arrow to a marker (object to marker), following this tutorial, the entire arrow disappears, and also doesn't show up between the markers available for my path...

Not sure what exactly youΒ΄re aiming for:

Sorry, I made a quick sketch of what I intend to do, hope that helps.

By the way, you don't seem to be experiencing the issue I'm having, with arrow heads disappearing after converting stroke to path. Are you on a different OS? Different Inkscape version?

EDIT: Oh no.... after experimenting a bit further, I noticed that my issue only occurs with some markers and not with others. The arrowheads that @Polygon used are converted alright in my Inkscape too, but the arrowheads that I intend to use (see attached sketch) just disappear, just like a whole lot of other arrowheads. I suppose I'd better switch to a different arrowhead for now. Too bad.

Extension->Generated from Path->Scatter… can exactly do what you want:

Awesome, thanks, I hadn't heard of this option before
