i'm trying to make a flag emoji, and this is my first time using vectors. I think the way im supposed to do this is to create a node at the midpoint between 2 existing nodes on either side of the rectangle, and then connect those 2 nodes to create a new object but I can't figure out how to create a new node

Hello Tyler Durden, very cool how you present your solution here! What program did you use to make the gif movie? I really like that!  😍

I set my Inkscape to look like the old version.

The bezier pen tool might not have a stroke assigned.

One way to assign colors to a tool:

The Fill/Stroke dialog can be used for more color control. http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Attributes.html
