I think I accidentally enabled some type of node editing feature- If I try to delete a node, the program automatically adjusts the handles on other nodes to try and maintain the same shape in the absence of the deleted node. I can see how this is super helpful sometimes, but I'd like to be able to disable it at will. Please see attached images, a close-up of text with original amount of nodes and then, after deleting a few, the handles of the remaining nodes have automatically adjusted to maintain the shape. Any ideas of what this feature is and how to turn on and off? Thanks!

I'd try un-ticking this checkbox, or using Ctrl + click.
